Accessibility

Access is the heart of what we do. We want this website to work for as many people as possible, in the way that suits them.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This includes semantic structure, keyboard navigation, visible focus, sufficient colour contrast, text that reflows and zooms, labelled forms with clear error messages, and support for reduced motion.

Calm View

Every page has a Calm View control in the header and footer. When switched on, it removes decorative gradients, disables animation, reduces saturation and removes non-essential shapes, while keeping all information, headings and navigation. Your preference is remembered on your device. If your device or browser requests reduced motion, we respect that automatically.

What we avoid

  • flashing, autoplay, moving backgrounds and endless animation
  • colour as the only way to understand meaning
  • inaccessible CAPTCHA and accessibility overlays
  • text placed on busy backgrounds or with poor contrast

Communication access

We accept speech, writing, AAC, gesture, movement and other forms of communication. You can take the time you need, ask for information in advance, and choose remote or asynchronous contact where possible.

We test and improve accessibility on an ongoing basis. This statement will be updated as the site develops.
